Was that a chicken??

For any of you who live in the Twin Cities or are ever planning a trip here you need to go to this little hole in the wall of a book store called "Wild Rumpus". I have heard about this place for awhile but just never felt like driving the distance from my house to that part of SW Minneapolis. Well, today I did and my kids loved it. Let me give you a short rundown of this little book nook. The front door is two sizes, there is a smaller door within the normal size door which my kids thought was awesome because it was just their size to open and walk through. And the funniest part of this bookstore is, are you ready?... the live animals wandering the store as well as many more in cages and in the floor covered by plexiglass that my daughter spent a good 15 minutes on her knees watching the rat below. The rat was placed in the "scary" book section while you'll find a dove named Mo by books about birds etc... There was about 4 cats that wandered the store which my kids enjoyed petting as well as a ferret, a couple of chicken type birds (no, I'm not up on my bird species but they looked like black miniature chickens) a dog and a chinchilla that was quite shy and only hung out behind the registers. It's worth seeing and picking up a couple of books from my childhood that I didn't know were still being published. Great little outing but keep in mind, the store is not stroller friendly so leave it in the car.
