HFCS = High Fructose Corn Syrup. What's so wrong with
HFCS you ask? I'll tell you what I've learned and why I never enter the "snack" food aisle at the grocery store, nor the "soda" aisle.
HFCS is obviously derived from corn, corn on it's own has no nutritional value but has components like many earth made products that can be extracted from it so we assume it's healthy since it came from the ground....not so fast!
The main problem with
HFCS is that when ingested it travels directly to your liver which turns the
chemically altered sugar straight into fat. When this happens, your bodies ability to produce insulin is paused and the brain doesn't get the message to say your full, so you end up eating more and more which means a bigger waist line and can cause you to be insulin resistant which is a
pre-cursor to diabetes. Another scary statistic is when you consume
HFCS and the way it travels straight to your liver, you are at a higher risk of developing a fatty liver, the same as if you were an alcoholic but in a non-alcoholic way.
HFCS causes organ damage, obesity and a HUGE increase for becoming diabetic.
Food makers choose to use
HFCS due to its long shelf life. Food by-products that can sit for years, are not good for your gut or brain. Be smart and choose healthy
carbs (potatoes, fruits & veggies & whole grains) and your overall health will benefit!
Hope this helps!!
