It DOES snow in TX!!!!

Ok, maybe just a little but it did snow and here is proof!!! It was also SOO foggy and dark when I drove G to school this morning which made it feel super wintery. However, Texas does have a saying that "if you don't like the weather in the morning, stick around till the afternoon". The sun is already up and has burned off almost all the cozy quiet fog but it was nice to see out my windows this morning.

(no, this isn't my house, it's the vacant one in my neighborhood that is up for sale or lease. So, Brittany, if you are reading this by chance, come move into this house!!!!)

I DO actually miss it....

I'm feeling a little weirded out these days with the funky weather that actually DOES make me miss MN seasons. So forgive me if I start posting lots of things I miss about my last home. I didn't really get to say goodbye because we packed and moved so quickly it was all just a blur. But right now, I am supposed to be enjoying the 65 degree weather here in TX and my body/brain are telling me it should be enjoying the humor in this....

Its called Cheerios

R: "Mom, my cereal is chunky"

Me: "Its called Cheerios"

R: "I can't eat the chunky"

Me: "R, you've eaten Cheerios forever, it's not chunky, that is what Cheerios are"

R: "Right! Mom, I loooovvveeee Cheerio Chunky"

Now, whenever she wants Cheerios she calls it, "Cheerio Chunky". Whatever it is, just eat it R.

Poor baby, poor mommy!

My newest little one just can't seem to get off to a good start in life!! You see this GI-NORMOUS basket next to her, filled with tons of clothes and gifts from people who love us and wanted to basically give us a "baby shower in a basket"? Well, she can't wear ANY of it and I am now having to return gifts all because my little one's health issues that seem to keep creeping up. She was born with Congenital Hip Displaysia which means in short, her hips are both dislocated. We were double diapering her per the peds request but after a month, they still were popping in and out so I was referred to a Pediatric Orthopedist who fit her with a harness device that holds her legs far open and with her knees basically in her arm pits, its so sad to see her so uncomfortable!! She has to wear this thing 24/7 for possibly 3-6 months but the ortho has hopes she'll be out of it by 7 weeks (cross your fingers everyone!!!) however, if it doesn't work, they will do surgery and put her poor baby body in a full body cast!! Oh, and there is more with this tiny one, after her follow up regarding her RSV she caught they discovered she has a heart murmur that needs to be checked out by a Pediatric Cardiologist, wait...there's more...at the same visit they also discovered (now that her baby newborn swollen look is fading away) that her right eye is turning inward (lazy eye) and needs to be referred to a Pediatric Opthomologist! Seriously, I don't know what else can go wrong with this little one but I was REALLLLLLY hoping for a much better 2009!!!!!

Nothing better than raising a boy!

As I'm changing my little newborn I look up to see my G coming into the room with 3 pairs of underwear on his head and giggling. I start laughing and ask him what he's doing, his reply...
"I'm just putting these on."
Me: Are you a Transformer?
G: No, I'm just G (as he begins stripping them from his head to now place over his knees).
Me: Hey G?...Are those clean underwear?......

HEY TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blinkers are NOT an optional piece of equipment, USE THEM!

When it rains...it pours...

In case you were wondering, I am still alive. I have been so crazy busy with getting through the holidays and still trying to cope with having a newborn in the house again. I feel like I have been running a marathon that doesn't have a finish line in sight. I fantasize about getting back on a scheduled routine but with a newborn it is SO frustrating (I'm not a newborn kind of mom). I'd list out everything that has been going on but that would just bore you all and quite frankly, I don't really want to relive where I have been and what I have coming up still. However, in the midst of my craziness, my poor little newborn came down with RSV. I spent TWO hours at the peds office yesterday as they pissed my baby off so bad I had a hard time calming her back down and if any of your babies have ever had RSV before, you know when they get so worked up their breathing pretty much stops altogether as you watch their face turn purply-blue, so scary! And after that, they then hook your child up to a heart monitor to see how stable their pulse is to determine if you need to go to the hospital or not. Thankfully, my mommy instinct was tuned in that I got her into the doc office before her airways got worse. However, I am now quarantined to my home for possibly the next 3 weeks (yay! that'll help my sanity) with a box full of vials of medicine and a nebulizer that I have to hook up to my poor newborn every 4 hours round the clock. Man, can I get a break yet???? I was hoping for a much better 2009!!
