Um...thanks...I guess
I absolutely adore my little 3yo, she is the sunshine in my day compared to her brother and his issues (he's a dang good kid though, don't get me wrong). She LOVES it when you ask her to help, no matter what it is...cooking, laundry, cleaning, talking to the baby to make her stop fussing. You name it, she'll do it! Well, today while the baby was down for a nap I asked her if she wanted to help me clean up the family room, of course she said, yes. Normally, I tell her what to pick up and what room to take it to but today she just jumped right in and started grabbing whatever she saw on the floor and dispersing it to who knows where. She kept running back in to the room to get more stuff and instead of following her I let her do her thing to help because she seemed so pleased with herself. Well, here is where it all went....

Bubbly!
It's been awhile since I have posted about the funny things my little 3yo says. She is very aware of bodily functions and about 3 months ago as I was giving her a bath she {farted}. Naturally, bubbles arose and she began to laugh hysterically. She then looked at me and said, "mom, my bum blows bubbles!". Well, I thought this was an isolated (definitely funny) conversation with her but a couple days ago she came to me with this...
R: Mommy, does your bum blow bubbles?
Me: (caught off guard) Yes, R I guess my bum does blow bubbles.
R: Does daddy's bum blow bubbles?
Me: OH YES! Daddy's bum blows bubbles.
R: Does G's bum blow bubbles?
Me: Yes.
R: Does babies bum blow bubbles?
Me: Yes R, everyone's bum blows bubbles.
R: RIGHT!!! You're so smart mom.
Me: Thanks R but I think you are smart too.
Who doesn't love the conversations toddlers/preschoolers bring to the table?!?!?

How much was that?
Had I been at the checkout, this would have never been purchased. This is a gigantic, ugly Transformer by the name of Optimus Prime (yes, I do know the name of this particular Transformer because when you have boys you have to know these things even if you don't care). That is my little 3yo trying to hold it up to show it's size. When I asked my hubby why he purchased it I got the response, "cause it's awesome!". I've heard the, "cause it's awesome!" excuse on other things he has purchased for our son and I guess I'm FINALLY learning after almost 6 years, it's a boy thing.

The day this hideous monster doll (maybe I shouldn't call it a doll, what would a boy call it?) finds itself in the closet and no one cares anymore is the day it hits the front doorstep with the other boxes of donations for the Kidney Foundation to pick up.

{Almost} Vegetarian
Those who know me best know that I choose not to eat meat on a daily basis, hence the term "almost" vegetarian. I only eat meat for social purposes such as an invite to someone's home or my fave restaurants like The Tree Room or The Five Alls. I have no "beef" (I know, stupid play on words but it worked) with anyone who eats meat regularly (including fish), I just choose not to eat it. I pride myself on providing my family with whole foods and in my pantry you'll never find disgusting "theme" snacks filled with cancer causing dyes and preservatives. I love knowing when we sit down to dinner (yeah G, mommy no longer makes multiple meals!!!) that the food my kids eat are all natural, organic, preservative free and full of amazing nutrients. Yes, my grocery bill can be higher (but local farmer markets and co-ops are a lifesaver!) because I choose to raise my family on whole foods but watching my G recover from Autism has been an amazing lesson of what to buy and not at the grocery store. I will soon be taking my family off sugar as well and focusing on yummy sweets that are homemade using Stevia, Agave Nectar, local honey etc... However, even though I pride myself on my whole foodness, I have eaten some STRANGE foods in my day, want to hear?? Chicken feet, chicken heart, Ethiopian sponges, alligator, frog legs, ants, worm at the bottom of Tequila bottle and some raw fish dealy-O (sp, anyone?) that my lovely hubby made me try (don't know what it was, it was just gross), lizard, deep fried pig snout and raw oyster (slurp!!). Disgusting right? I'd eat them all again though if I can get on the show Survivor and win a cool million!Wednesday, May 6, 2009
