Our district does a whopper of a field trip when the kids get to 4th grade. It's no local zoo, aquarium or museum, OH NO!! they charter luxury buses and head south all the way to the state capital building! I was super nervous about signing G up to be able to go on this journey seeing as it's an ALL DAY event. The kids have to meet at the school at 6am and they don't get home until 9pm. You see, our state capital building is a 4 hour drive away and that's assuming there is no traffic. However, Mr. D was awesome and signed up as a chaperon for this trip so G would be able to go and enjoy the trip with all the other kids:) Phew!
Every state capital bldg has a dome, right? Well, here is Texas' dome.
Kids getting a feel of politics.
G and his BFF, she is so patient with him and despite his quirks and off behaviors, her parents clearly have done an amazing job at teaching her that friends come in all shapes, sizes, colors and disabilities:) I was so happy when I saw these two were going to be in the same group for the day.
I couldn't wait for G and Mr. D to get home, I thought about them all day long. As soon as I heard the door open I flew into the family room to get the scoop on the day. G was so excited to share with me that the lady liberty who stands a top the Texas state capital building actually has a super huge nose and a super long chin, basically all her facial features are super exaggerated so when you look up at her from the ground, she looks proportioned. I love it when he shares and I love even more that we were able to make it work with all his meds/supps and special diet and he got to experience this trip with his dad:)

That is so cool that Danny could go with G. When I was in school my dad took time off to go on my field trips and I still remember how cool that was. (One of them was even to the state capitol!) What a fun time for G!
