Remember last weeks list that was so overwhelming? Well, due to the weather and 4 days of school cancellations and many things getting moved to this week, I'm happy to say, I CAN BREATHE AGAIN!!!
I finished everything on my list except for a school meeting that has yet to be rescheduled so I'm feeling pretty good, I have space, I have elbow room, I have an inner calm again.
But can I back up for a moment? As I was sprinting this marathon of a to-do-list, it kept popping into my head, how do working moms manage these types of hectic schedules? Seriously, how do they do it? I'm extremely fortunate not having to work but wow, if I had a job, I feel I would never have been able to accomplish everything on that list...on time.
So, are you a working mom (or have been for that matter)? Will you tell me how you organize your life in such a way that everything still gets done? I think I need to learn something from you ladies. Please post a comment or write on your own blog so we can all benefit from your knowledge of how to work, run a house and still find time for yourself.
Thank you!

I don't know if I count, because I only work part time (20 hrs a week) and could NEVER work full time, but I will say that no matter what, my kids come first. Yes I get behind on a load of laundry or dishes here and there though. Seth is really attached to me and needs a lot of personal attention. If he is whining, or acting out, as much as I hate leaving a job undone, I stop what I'm doing and sit down with him and talk to him. (I don't think that it's a coincidence that on days when I don't spend enough time with him he cries when I put him to bed for a half hour before falling asleep.) Anyway I do things in alternating intervals when it comes to housework. A half hour cleaning, then a half hour playing with the kids, then a half hour on my next project, and back to a half hour with the kids, etc. Obviously depending on the circumstance I can't always do that, but I just try and let my kids know they matter and I love them everyday and try not to panic when I'm behind.
Raising 7 kids, working full time--I didn't know I was supposed to get "me time." I worked weird hours like from 6 pm to 2 am so I could be home all day with the family. Our pediatrician gave good advice. Every time I brought one of the kids in to see him he would always start with,"Well, busy mom, are you getting enough sleep?" I loved that because (other than my sweet hubby) he was the only person who seemed to care how I was managing. He would remind me that the kids and hubby come first, and that I would only have little ones for a few short years. He was absolutely right. Some days you may have to just let the house go and spend time on the floor with the kids. Things will work out. Try to get your sleep and be energized to play with and keep up with your kids. Too soon they will be grown. Seriously, they really don't care if you're having a bad hair day. Love yourself as much as they love you.
