Here is our latest update with this little bug...
So, two weeks ago when we had the initial cast put on, she had horrible muscle spasms that kept her awake for 2 days, it was awful. During those spasms, she popped her first tooth threw which obviously made matters worse for the little thing. The spasms subsided after a couple of days and her teething continued, she popped her second tooth threw. MAN, can this child get a break from pain?!??! Tylenol helped a little bit and she gagged on the Oral B teething swabs so we gave her a pacifier to chew on (she never wanted one from birth) which seemed to help somewhat. Now, fast forward....
When I took baby R in for her followup I was instructed to get an x-ray done before coming in. I did this and when we met with Dr. Canada, the awful muscle spasms had caused one of her hips to pop back out, this meant back to the OR. Baby R went back in yesterday morning and surprisingly did so well that she was back home before 11:ooam. She did fine all day, and took an awesome 3 hour nap as the anesthesia wore off but then came last night. I put her down and ALL.. NIGHT.. LONG she was up every 30 minutes, like clock work. Today she isn't napping either but when she is up, she's fine. I hate feeling at a loss on what to do to make her comfortable enough to sleep sound. I will take her for another x-ray next Monday and back to Dr. Canada for another followup so we pray that this little darlin' isn't having more spasms and hips have gone awry again. If you have suggestions on how to make a baby comfortable in a body cast, let us know!
