What {NOT} to get a teacher.

Ok, so forgive me as I have Christmas (and Halloween and Thanksgiving and Birthdays) on my brain.  Today I decided I really wanted to not rush this year when it comes down to teachers gifts.  Every year I have to admit, they are my last priority on the gift giving train.  Not to say that I don't give them anything, I do, it's just usually lame and no real thought behind it (can you say, "Target Giftcard"?).  So, in the past, when the room volunteer mom sends out lists of gifts the teacher would like, I have made mental note of items that come up on the DO NOT BUY ME list so let's start here...

1: Nothing with an apple on it.
2: No more mugs.
3: Enough with the candy and sweet treats already, I'm only human and would like to lose a few.
4: No more lotions and potions.
5: No more coffee cause I don't drink coffee.

So, this year, I need to get creative.  I want my kids to both be involved and I want the product to be eco-friendly, useful and thoughtful.  Here are my ideas thus far....

1: Get a reusable shopping bag, fill with fresh items and incorporate a recipe with the items.
2:  Reusable snack packs like these .  With a gift card to Whole Foods.
3: Paint recycled wood and put a quote on it.

What do you think?  Any other ideas I should consider?
