My Lovey & Her Lovey

This darling sea horse has been a comfort object for baby R ever since the horrid nights we went through when she came home from the hospital after all 3 of her casts were put on last summer.  Regardless of what any doctor tells you, anesthesia messes with these little bodies way too much.  All those sleepless nights after her being knocked out we'd push the little tummy and the soothing classical melodies would begin playing with a soft glow.  I held baby R on my lap with this sea horse and just rocked...for hours in the middle of the night when the rest of the world seemed so quiet and unaware.  It was the only thing that seemed to quiet her cries and to this day when she finds it, she still gives it big hugs and rocks back and forth.  She is such a sweet thing to have had to endure what she's had to in her first year of life.

Baby R is 14 months old now (crazy right??).  She recently graduated from her DOC Band (aka,. Helmet) and received a "diploma" for making it a grand total of 14 weeks wearing it!  Technically, she was supposed to go into a second helmet to complete her treatment but because my insurance sucks and Texas sucks, they refused her that second helmet due to the fact she is now over one years old.  Her head shape is barely considered abnormal right now but everyone I have spoken to that has had one of these helmets have expressed that their childs head still rounded out more after the helmet was off.  I'm just glad she's a girl and hair will cover any imperfections that may or may not be there when she is a material girl in high school.

She´s a beautiful little girl, Heather. All your children are very good looking - but then, consider they have a beautiful mom and a handsome dad so how could they be otherwise??
